Easy Low Carb Bread
I received a “goodie bag” from Sukrin USA – the newly opened US branch of Norwegian low carb, gluten-free health food provider Funksjonell Mat (brand Sukrin). And in this bag was a bread mix for a Chia and Hemp seed bread which immediately sparked my curiosity!
The bread mix came in a cardboard box and when opened, it looked like this:
The instructions said to add water, mix, leave for 5 minutes, shape into a loaf of bread or rolls and then bake. Easiest LCHF baking I have done in a long time:-)
I added just over 10 fl oz of water (3 dl), mixed it together and let it sit on the kitchen table for a little while. I wanted to make rolls so I wet my hands and shaped the dough into 8 equal sized rolls which I placed on a lined cookie sheet. Into my pre-heated (350-375 F convection) oven they went for 35 minutes – and out came the most delicious looking rolls
I left them to cool on a rack but had a hard time waiting as they smelled as good as they looked. They were absolutely delicious – my daughter and I agreed that these are so much more like real bread than any other LCHF “breads” we’ve ever tried. And with 2 net carbs per roll and the no-hassle preparation, we will definitely try both these and the other bread mix version (sunflower/pumpkin) again very soon!
The bread mixes can be found here.
